EMDR Therapy
“May your choices reflect your hopes, not your fears.”

Traumatic or overwhelming experiences can leave lasting emotional and physical imprints. You may find yourself reliving the past, feeling triggered, or reacting more intensely than you would like... You may feel stuck and unable to move forward. You may find your body reacting in fight, flight or freeze mode.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), developed by Francine Shapiro, is a research supported approach that helps the brain process traumatic memories, so they lose their emotional charge. Through bilateral stimulation (eye movements, tapping, or sound), EMDR helps to process old memories, so they no longer sabotage the present. EMDR can also be used to develop and integrate positive internal resources to aid in coping with life stressors.
I am certified in EMDR as both a therapist and consultant. I often integrate EMDR with somatic and mindfulness based practices to support deep, embodied healing.
EMDR can be particularly helpful in treating:
• Childhood abuse or neglect
• Medical or surgical trauma
• Accidents or injuries
• Crime victimization
• Persistent negative beliefs
• Anxiety or phobias
